LEVEL: Late-Beginner or Later
TIME: 20 minutes, though may vary depending on levels
PURPOSE: Practice grammar and reading skills. Boost memory/learning as people tend to learn best from mistakes.
PREPARATION AND MATERIALS:
- A list of incorrect sentences in need of fixing!
- Paper (if printed worksheet) OR whiteboard
GOAL: Students fix incorrect grammar of a sentence.
ACTIVITY:
This can either be individual activity or involve the whole class.
Individual — Pass out the worksheet and give students time to complete. Then go over the answer.
Whole class — Write incorrect sentence on the whiteboard. Have students figure out what is incorrect, and either have them call out or call out individual names to maximize participation.
Students then fix the thing that is wrong with the sentence.
NOTES:
- In addition to practicing whatever grammar lesson, you can note common mistakes students are making in homework and make those the basis of your practice.
- Some errors may be naturally more “difficult” than others to correct, especially if they are common errors people make, and some students are more inclined to make some mistakes than others. If calling out students, be sure to factor this into your consideration.
